Summary/Abstract: Enfance by Nathalie Sarraute appears at a time when the self-writing is attracting growing interest, while undergoing profound changes at the same time. The desire to legitimize and modernize the autobiographical genre leads, paradoxically, to a generic transgression, because a new self-writing is taking shape: “autofiction”. Our intention here is to examine the particularities of the new autobiographical writing proposed by Sarraute's text, which is distinguished above all by the duplication of the narrative voice, by the discontinuity and by the exploration of the tropisms of childhood.
