FROM THE HISTORY OF UKRAINIAN-POLISH LITERARY CONTACTS (THE 50s OF THE 20 CENTURY – THE BEGINNING OF THE 21 CENTURY)

Summary/Abstract: In the article the author shows the most significant aspects of Ukrainian-Polish relationships in culture, especially literary ones. She analyses translations of Polish masterpieces, like those by Adam Mickiewicz, Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, Czesław Miłosz or Wisława Szymborska made by such Ukrainian writers as Maksym Rylski, Pawło Tyczyna, Mykoła Bażan or Dmytro Pawłyczko. She also recalls the celebration of the Polish Year in Ukraine in 2004 and hopes that the Ukrainian Year in Poland (2005) will bring good creative and critical scholarly results.
