Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the author will examine circumstances and the development of revenge play genre in the English Renaissance literature. He will present as well the overview of the genre’s peculiarities on the example of “The Spanish Tragedy” by Thomas Kyd as the archetypal revenge play.
