Summary/Abstract: The article revisitsMartinHeidegger’s essayThe Origin of theWork of Art, aimingto elaborate on the “down-to-earth” everyday aesthetics of objects of use. I show that usableartifacts can take part in the aesthetic revealing of being although, unlike works of art, they are not directly oriented at it.This concerns the issue of revealing the individuality(uniqueness) of things as independent of theirmass production and the transformationof the understanding of the symptoms of destruction as a feature negatively assessedby the consumerist attitude into the dimension of disclosing the being (ownness) of thingsas entangled in the influence of other beings.
