Digitization in the service of development museum activities in the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Summary/Abstract: The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina from its founding in 1888 followed all the contemporary streams from spheres of museum activities and sciences. It is involving, among the other things, the way of preservation of cultural – historical and natural heritage and library collections. National Museum of B&H has got about 3 million of pieces and about 30.000 titles, including a great number of rarities, as original charters from Middle Ages, documents, books printed in the 16th and 17th century, and so on. According to new tendencies in museum studies, Documentation Section of National Museum of B&H starts with new ways of document to materials. In the Documentation Section of Ethnology Department has got complete renumbering and electronic data base storage for all ethnology collections. There is in progress an acquisition of specialized programme “M++“ from the Archeology Department and Natural History Department. According with mentioned there are new law sub – regulations relating to storage of maintain Museum materials throughout “Regulations about content and way of maintain of Museum documents”.
