The first occurrence of the expression “Serbian philosophyˮ

Summary/Abstract: The paper refers to the beginnings of the academic philosophy in Serbia and to the circumstance that reports about its development. These were the part of the program of the respectable philosophical Hegelian journal Der Gedanke, 1861–1863. It refers to the contributions of Dimitrije Matić and the cooperation of this prominent Serbian philosopher, jurist and politician with the editor of the journal Karl Ludwig Michelet, who was the first to use the expression “Serbian philosophy”. The author reminds us that never later, when the academic philosophy in Serbia realized remarkable progress, a foreign publication followed with such attention and according to plan the philosophical life in Serbia.
