Summary/Abstract: The present article considers a thematic framework within the study of Portuguese language and literature, delimited, among others, by the following key terms and concepts: “language”, cultural forces of “integration” and “disintegration”, “identity capital”, “universal language”, “Lusophony”. An attempt will be made to support the notion that the conception of a linguistic community requires the study of the notion of “plurality”
