Summary/Abstract: In Polish literary studies, ecopoetry represents a stimulative interpretative theory which further adds to the defense of humanities in an era when mainly exact sciences are promulgated. Although the youngest poets’ poetry is mostly interpreted in this key, serious research carried out by institutions encompasses a wider context of Polish literature. In this sense, the poetry of Wisława Szymborska is an indicative example, with which we compare in this paper the poetry of the Serbian poet Miroljub Todorović. It would appear that his scientific and signalist work is useful for the application of an ecopoetic model of interpretation. The analytical segment of this paper is divided into four parts that reflect the common poetic points of both Szymborska and Todorović: 1) Darwin; 2) Newton; 3) Microbiology; 4) Paleontology and herpetology. The ecopoetic approach shifts the conventional perspective, enables a new viewpoint, reveals the world, creates miracles, critical optics, and it fuels imagination.
