Summary/Abstract: Each narrative represents a story of identity, that is, identity consists of a narrative (story). Dostoevsky’s biography abounds in stories “more fantastic than any real”, from his constant race for money, gambling, relationships with women, to fame. However, what marked his life was his stay in Siberia, which we are dealing with in this paper. The introductory part of the paper presents a few data on Dostoevsky’s childhood, schooling, and fame. The central part deals with Petrashevci, detention, “shooting”, persecution in Siberia, and prison days. The final part describes the acquiring of freedom.
