The family village – a nostalgic source of Marian Kępiński’s painting inspirations

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to discuss the phenomenon of nostalgia in the paintings of Professor Marian Kępiński – artist and pedagogue of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łodź. The nostalgia manifested in portraying nature, landscape and people associated with the artist’s family village. The opportunity to reflect is the recent anniversary of the 50th anniversary of his work. The article’s aim is to show how the artist – using symbolism related to the world of nature – portrays the mythical memory of the space of his childhood and youth – his family village of Kamionka.
