Summary/Abstract: One of the planets’ biggest creditors and a territory where interests of globally operating companies converge, China has been gaining in political and economic importance. The ‘going global’ direction in the country’s foreign economic policy is worth studying by outside watchers for a number of reasons. Most notably, the foreign direct investments demonstrate how the Chinese foreign exchange reserves enable the country not to yield to international trends.
