Summary/Abstract: The aim of the review article is a discussion on a book by Czesław Deptuła, Historical Beginnings in Polish Medieval Historiography: Issues on Ideas, Concepts, and Narratives (Początki dziejowe w Polskiej historiografii średniowiecznej. Z zagadnień historii idei, wyobrażeń i narracji). The publication consists of articles already announced by the scholar in writing, included in various academic journals and collective volumes. The leitmotiv of the reviewed volume presents broadly understood views on Poland’s origins, presented in the native historiographic works from the Middle Ages. The discussed articles not only recall the most important findings carried out by the medievalists from Lublin, but, collected together, they also provide a necessary context for studying the main directions of C. Deptuła’s academic inquiries and scholarship.
