Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to present the current state of the law and outline the views of Ukrainian doctrine on the subject of universal suffrage. The author pays special attention to the regulations of the Electoral Code of Ukraine enacted in 2019. The analysis is carried out separately for the right to vote, the right to stand as a candidate and the right to nominate candidates. The author concludes that, despite the significant transformations of Ukrainian electoral law, the way in which the principle of universal suffrage is framed has remained an enduring element of it. He also points out the close connection between the election law and the formation of the party system in Ukraine.
