Summary/Abstract: The subject of this research is the reception of the VII Ecumenical Council in the West in the works of Russian church historians.Interpretations of the influence of the VII Ecumenical Council on the West and the theological-historical relations between the West and the East will be based on the works of Russian church historians and their analysis of the implications that the VII Ecumenical Council and the reaction of the Frankish Church to that council had on the Church in the West.The research will highlight the arguments and critical analysis of Russian historians on the theology of the icon in the West and the causes that led the West to stand in opposition to the decisions of the VII Ecumenical Council.
