Summary/Abstract: Dobursko ie a small settlement situated in the northern end of the Razlog valley. The village of Dobursko is noteworthy both for its geographic, historical and ethnic peculiarities and for its extreme economic development expressed chiefly in commercial contacts with Central Europe. In order to become familiar with these features, in 1914 Anton Popstoilov visited the village and published his findings in the Collection of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The marginal entry in a liturgical book confirmed the information about the contacts of the village with Vatoped Monastery on Mount Athos. Data on these contacts are found also on the more recently discovered bell presented to Dobursko as an expression of satisfaction with the continuing economic contacts by Vatoped Monastery in 1888. On the bell On the bell is inscribed, a text in Creek which in translation reads: “The Athonite Holy Monastery of Vatoped presents the parish of Nedobursko with a bell in connection with (our) links of long standing. Year 1888”. The marginal entry from the village of Dobursko discovered, and published, by A. Popstoilov is a very good piece of information revealing and elucidating the links of the Razlog area with Mount Athos and specifically of the village of Dobursko with the Vatoped Monastery. These contacts constitute a local, specific feature in the economic development of the national and. cultural processes which here repeat the general regularities characteristic of the whole country.
