Selected Types of Language Humour in the Texts by Kabaret pod Wyrwigroszem

Summary/Abstract: The performances by Kabaret pod Wyrwigroszem representing the series entitled Między Bugiem a prawdą reveal a variety of mechanisms of language humour. A lot of these mechanisms rely on the protagonists’ limited language competence and their use of dialect, as well as numerous cases of vocabulary misuse - words of Standard Polish are used by the protagonists with a violation of language norms. The paper presents examples of language mechanisms that are used most frequently for comic effects.
