Summary/Abstract: The article’s main objective is to present the social impact of theCOVID-19 pandemic in the Slovak Republic. It describes its course (from March2020 to April 2022) and the legal regulations introduced at that time to limitits impact. The most critical demonstrations against restrictions to preventthe spread of the coronavirus are described. Special attention is paid to theeffects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education system and the functioning of churches and religious associations. The analysis uses mainly articlesfrom Slovak Internet portals, but also is based on the public opinion pollsconducted during the pandemic (2020-2022). According to the authors, theanti-pandemic measures taken by the Slovak authorities are characterised bya restrictive approach, which contributed to a deepening of social divisions.As a result, public support for them and vaccination was relatively low, andSlovakia is one of the countries with the lowest percentage of vaccinatedpeople in the European Union.
