Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to examining the possibilities for the development of renewable energy sources (RES) in rural areas of Ukraine, taking into account the climate change. Rural areas, especially agriculture, have significant potential for energy generation in an environmentally friendly way, as well as with the use of their own renewable resources. Similar measures will help strengthen energy security and mitigate the negative impact of the energy and agricultural sectors on climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For this, the article considers a variety of RES technologies that can be implemented in rural areas of Ukraine, gives examples and analyses the opportunities and barriers to their development. In addition, attention was paid to the necessary measures for adapting agriculture to the ongoing climate change, as for reducing the contribution of the energy and agricultural sectors to the negative impact on the climate, as well as adapting agriculture to continue performing its functions and maintaining an appropriate level of efficiency.
