Summary/Abstract: Review of the book „The History of People“ − Rychlík, Martin: Dějiny lidí: pestrost lidstva v 73 kapitolách. Praha: Academia, 2022, 640 pages, ISBN 978-80-200-3198-3 The review presents and provides an evaluation of an anthropological publication that considers the 73 cultural universals established by the American cultural anthropologist George P. Murdock. The reviewer focuses on those parts of the book that are particularly relevant for readers interested in social policy, i.e. essays devoted to housing, the division of labour, population policy and family issues. The review praises the assessed publication as being a particularly successful popularisation study. It points out only a small number of flaws or questionable authorial and editorial approaches.
