CLASSIFICATION OF SCIENCE IN ARABIC TRADITION

Summary/Abstract: The text deals with the classification of science within Islamic and Arabic scientific tradition. In spite of steady endeavours to make their own classification systems, adapted to their cultural milieu, which is obvious in al-Farabi, the authors who wrote in Arabic were under the influence of Hellenic philosophical tradition. Today, these classification are very significant in the times of necessity to organise a rich cultural-scientific and philosophical heritage in Arabic. Thus this classification schemes traverse from philosophic to informative-Librarian sphere.
