Prefect’s status from the perspective of the Administrative Code

Summary/Abstract: In our country, over time, the prefect's status went through different regulations, which have given him political or administrative powers. In this article, using logical interpretation, the study of the doctrine and jurisprudence, we intend to investigate the status of the prefect, institution with tradition in the Romanian public administration, from the perspective of the Administrative Code. In conclusion, the Administrative Code returns to the legislative solution prior to the adoption of Law no. 340/2004, the function of prefect being a political one, which derives from its role as a representative of the Government in the territory.
