Summary/Abstract: We use a novel cross-country data set tomeasure multidimensional inequality of income, wealth, and consumption in 21 EU countries. We investigate thecorrelation between the positions of the household in theirdistributions. We use the bootstrap method to assess thestatistical significance of cross-country differences. Wefind that the correlation between the position of thehousehold in considered distributions varies significantlyacross countries. Homeownership, median income, andlevel of unidimensional inequalities are correlated with thestrength of the link between distributions.Multidimensional analysis of inequality changes the pictureemerging from the unidimensional inequality analysis.Wealth inequality is a crucial contributor tomultidimensional inequality. Cross-country differences inmultidimensional inequality in the European Union arerather mild.
