Reforms of the provision of long-term care - from an EU publication

Summary/Abstract: Dependence on long-term care represents a major health, economic and social risk factor for both the person who is dependent on such care and his/her family. The lack of social protection e.g. through cash benefits or care exposes a wide range of EU citizens to an increased risk of poverty and social exclusion. And it should be added that the number of people exposed to such risks continues to increase due to the ageing of the European population.
