Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the representations of female homoerotic desire in contemporary cinema on the example of Atom Egoyan’s Chloe. The author searches for connections between this work and other, more traditional cinematic genres, such as the erotic thriller, but most of all, the gothic film, understood as a female genre dedicated to paranoia. The analysis also addresses contemporary reflections on the urban public space, contemporary architecture and Modernist paradigm in visual arts, which was rejected in the course of constructing the artistic female subject and the idea of the female authorship. The article aims at answering the question, how is the problem of a female spectator linked to the issue of lesbian desire and to the changes both in public space as well as in contemporary cinema.
