Venture capital and development of local economics

Summary/Abstract: The present work examines the nature and forms of manifestation of venture capital, the potential of venture capital markets in the European Union. The activity of the venture capital funds in Bulgaria, the benefits and problems of the companies' partnership with these funds are analyzed. Based on the revealed potential of venture capital to support the development of regional economies, the authors propose a model for creating an investment fund for the development of the economy of the Plovdiv region. The potential investors, the investment strategy of the fund, the stages of its creation are specified. The typical strategies for ending the partnership and the possible withdrawal of the risk investors after the realization of the project are indicated.
