Summary/Abstract: The quality of the travel agencies' product has been a topical issue in recent years in our economy, it is the basis of building competitive tourism in Bulgaria. After the period of construction and reconstruction of numerous means of accommodation in our country, it is extremely important to build a complex tourist product offered by Bulgarian tour operators, which meets both the ever-increasing demands of consumers who already have considerable experience as tourists in competitive destinations, as well as the European quality requirements and the good practices of the leading tour operators. The purpose of the scientific research is to outline guidelines for improving the quality of the tourist product offered in the tourist agencies in Bulgaria, in connection with the accession of Bulgaria to the European Union, as well as designing ways and means of adapting tourism to the philosophy of the European market. In order to achieve the goal, the legal framework regulating the new requirements in the field of tourism and travel agencies in particular, as well as the foreign experience of leading European tour operators, is studied, and specific proposals are also made for procedures for adapting the tour operator activity in Bulgaria to the new European requirements.
