Summary/Abstract: In his work O srpskom imenu u zapadnijem krajevima našega naroda (About the Serbian Name in the Western Areas of Our People) (Montenegro, Dubrovnik, Herzegovina with the Dalmatian Littoral, Bosnia, Croatia with Rijeka and Trieste, and Slavonia with Srem), Đerić stated around 650 historical sources of different origin which testify to the presence of the Serbian people in these areas from the 10th until the early 12th century. He collected the most voluminous sources about the Serbs of the Eparchies of Gornji Karlovac and Pakrac. The historical sources about medieval Bosnia show that apart from the Serbs, no other nation lived there. Đerić’s book Nekoliko glavnih pitanja iz etnografije stare Srbije i Maćedonije (Several Main Questions from the Ethnography of Old Serbia and Macedonia) deals with the territories which were a part of Turkey before the Balkan Wars, and which Serbian and Bulgarian scientists clashed about, proving that the Serbs, i.e. Bulgarians lived there. Serbia and Bulgaria waged war over Old Serbia and Macedonia. At the time, these areas were in the focus of the European professional public. Đerić stated the historical sources which testify to the mentioning of the Serbian, Old Slavic and Bulgarian name. He devoted particular attention to studying the speech of the Macedonian Slavs, indicating the cases when it was closer to the Serbian or Bulgarian language. In both his works, Đerić pointed out the actions of the then best-known Croatian and Bulgarian historians, linguists and ethnographers who, acting almost equally, did not shy away from falsifying or neglecting some historical sources about the Serbs in order to achieve a political gain for their people. Đerić adeptly indicated the fallacies and lack of knowledge of some European Slavists and ethnologists who dealt with the Macedonian question in the late 19th and early 20th century.
