Summary/Abstract: The article presents an unknown Marian hymn created in the seventeenth century. The work was probably written in Latin and translated into Polish. The text is a philo-logical explication of the work, which takes into account its theological and cultural contexts. Attention is paid to the deliberate medieval stylization of the hymn. It also focuses on explaining the function of poetic imagery used to describe the figure of Mary and her meaning in salvation history. The author’s inspirations, his dialogue with tradition and intertextual references of the hymn are indicated.
