ПРИЛОГ ТУМАЧЕЊУ ПЕСМЕ НАД КОСТОМ РУВАРЦЕМ ЛАЗЕ КОСТИЋА
CONTRIBUTION TO THE INTERPRETATION OF A LAZA KOSTIĆ' SONG NAD KOSTOM RUVARCEM

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the role of Laza Kostić’s song Nad Kostom Ruvarcem in the genesis of his second poem dedicated to the death of his close friend Kosta Ruvarac (Spomen na Ruvarca) as well as several others necrology poems of this Serbian poet. Through the analysis of composition, rhetorical pattern, motives and poetics in this poem, the author reveals its significance for Kostić’s dualistic understanding of men, his observations about body and soul as philosophical categories and poetic images of life and death. In these analyses the author explores a binary principle in composition, the models of speech, the standpoints of lyric subject, the poetic image of life as school and death as vacation, representation of death as journey, the Charon complex and the elements of romantic irony.
