Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to review press illustrations from 1905-1914 devoted to children and youth, in order to answer the question about the ways ofvisualizing issues related to the process of education and upbringing. The querycovered selected periodicals published in the territory of the Kingdom of Poland: the popular weeklies „Tygodnik Ilustrowany“ and „Świat“, as well as twomore narrow-profile titles: „Wieś Ilustrowana“ addressed to the gentry community and „Bluszcz“ - one of the first Polish women‘s magazines. In the analyzedperiod of less than a decade, a query in Warsaw‘s illustrated socio-cultural magazines brought a lot of research material on the representations of childhoodand adolescence. The most numerous group consisted of very similar photographs documenting various types of educational or care facilities. However, itwas also possible to establish a significant group of images that in various waysreferred to diferent aspects of education and upbringing, being a testimony tothe attitudes and views dominating in the polish society of that time.
