Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine smart healthcare in the metaverse. In this article, I cumulate previous research findings indicating that virtual scanning capabilities, smart wearable Internet of Medical Things technologies, and clinical artificial intelligence algorithms in a decentralized healthcare metaverse and immersive 3D virtual worlds. I contribute to the literature on avatar-based patient–doctor consultations and virtual clinical trials by showing that metaverse-based healthcare monitoring systems develop on wearable medical sensor devices across immersive virtual environments. Throughout May 2022, I performed a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases, with search terms including “metaverse healthcare systems” + “simulation technologies,” “virtualization technologies,” and “artificial intelligence diagnostic tools.” As I inspected research published in 2022, only 140 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria. By removing controversial findings, outcomes unsubstantiated by replication, too imprecise material, or having similar titles, I decided upon 23, generally empirical, sources. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AXIS, Dedoose, MMAT, and SRDR.
