Summary/Abstract: In this article, I cumulate previous research findings indicating that wearable medical sensor devices, virtual patient data, and immersive simulation technologies assist digital twins in healthcare in relation to diagnostic and therapeutic services. I contribute to the literature on healthcare modeling and simulation tools, virtual care data, and smart biomedical sensors optimizing immersive metaverse experiences in multiuser virtual environments by showing that disease diagnosis and treatment in avatar-based patient–doctor consultations necessitate mobile cloud-based healthcare systems, wireless biomedical sensing devices, and synthetic data and images. Throughout June 2022, I performed a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases, with search terms including “metaverse-based healthcare monitoring systems” + “wireless biomedical sensing devices,” “virtual care technologies,” and “ambient intelligence algorithms.” As I inspected research published in 2022, only 149 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria. By eliminating controversial findings, outcomes unsubstantiated by replication, too imprecise material, or having similar titles, I decided upon 25, generally empirical, sources. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AXIS, Dedoose, ROBIS, and SRDR.
