Summary/Abstract: The content of the contribution is to introduce a social income as a tool for an economic policy, in particular as a tool for a social policy that leads to a reduction of income inequalities in society. The quality of life of civil society and perception of social equality is narrowly linked to the distribution of income among particular social groups in a given country. Relations among citizens in a country where a high level of income inequality exists (thus, considerably differentiated redistribution of income among population exists), are then a barrier for further societal transition and limits its further development. This is the reason why an economic policy has to be activated and applied into the redistribution system by means of such tool that is both motivating for working citizens, but also sympathetic with an objective to eliminate distinct social inequalities. Influence of a social policy, and thus, a social income on income inequality in Czech society will be analysed. Such analysis will be performed by means of the Lorenz curve. An analysis of the development of an index of income inequality for years 2005−2016 will be conducted by means of the standard deviation method. Data originating from the Czech Statistical Office will be utilized for analyses.
