Summary/Abstract: The Culture Factory is one of the most important theatre venues in Romania and also in Europe. The project started a couple of years ago, when the management of Sibiu International Theatre Festival decided to transform an old communist factory in order to make available some very generous theatre venues. This is the place where The Scarlet Princess (directed by Silviu Purcarete) opened in 2018 and rapidly became a success and also a landmark in contemporary Romanian performing arts. The article is analyzing the basic principles of transforming such an industrial space and is emphasizing the way the management of the festival and of Radu Stanca National Theatre oddered the local community the generous opportunity to have such a venue.
