The Nuptial behavior of the Luterans in the city of Arad (mind 19th century – early 20th century)

Summary/Abstract: This study is focused on the demographic behaviour regarding marriage in Lutheran population of Arad city from the middle of the XIX century until the begining of the XX century. The first certain information about Lutheran community in Arad city dates back to 1819. By 1850 the Lutheran community in Arad city was made up of 850 belivers. Our study follows the demographic marriage behavior of the Lutheran community in the city of Arad since 1850 based on the data extracted from the parish registers of the Evangelical Parish Office in Arad. Through a few tables, we want to present some data regarding the civil status of the Lutherans in the city of Arad, the seasonality of marriages, the rate of mixed marriages, as well as the age associated with marriage.
