Summary/Abstract: Maintaining the territorial status quo was the main goal of the Romanian interwar foreign policy, relying on the observance of the Pact of the League of Nations, on the establishment of a real network of agreements and treaties, „intended to strengthen the Geneva forum and to serve, in directly, the major interests of all countries, especially the small and medium ones”. Sever Bocu constantly applied the concept of Banatism, enunciated at a 1934 meeting of volunteers, to the content of articles in the daily Vestul (The West), thus explaining certain positions of the newspaper’s editors regarding various events or problems. In the pages of the newspaper Vestul (The West) were presented and analyzed, with a lot of competence and objectivity, the main aspects of the Romanian‑French relations, insisting on the economic projects advanced by France to save the states with agricultural profile in Central and Eastern Europe. At the same time, some asperities in the relations between the two countries were highlighted, determined by the tendency of some governmental circles, coordinated by Constantin Argetoianu, to establish a privileged economic relations with Germany. Political, cultural, technical‑scientific or other relations were not omitted, which were still maintained at a very high level.
