The Image of a Manual Worker in Selected Polish Contemporary Films 1968–1990

Summary/Abstract: This image will be mainly a representation of a worker, albeit heterogeneous. From the hero of socialist work to the pathological individual from the late productions of Stanisław Bareja. In addition, I intend to refer to the image of common working people, clerks, salespeople, lower-level bureaucrats, that is, a kind of „everyman”. The chronological framework of the text covers the years 1968–1990. The image of a working man will concern his reflection in Polish feature films of the analyzed period.
