The Major Challenges Affecting the Swedish Social Democratic Party Today

Summary/Abstract: This paper investigates the dynamics of the political platform of the Swedish Social Democratic Party starting with its accession to the European Union and until today. In terms of a better understanding of its political direction, this paper will highlight some of the main challenges that contribute to the party’s nowadays theory First, there is the need to emphasize the electoral and political influence caused by the rise in popularity and parliamentary representation of the right-wing populist party. Second, within the core problem of radical right-wing rise, we will analyze the immigration policy evolution that has been an ongoing issue in public debates since 2015. In the end, this paper will pay tribute to the unique context of social democracy within the North, considering similarities on immigration policy response within the region.
