Summary/Abstract: The article presents the latest compendium of the history and culture of the medieval Eastern Europe (500–1300). A critical analysis of an extensive publication allows us to consider it an important, however in some respects disputable, study that contests the existing patterns of describing the past of this European region and paves the way for new and innovative studies.
