Summary/Abstract: In September 1819, Prussian War Minister Hermann von Boyen received a letter regarding the situation in the Kingdom of Poland. It was written by General Ludwig Gustav von Thile I, who conducted a factual analysis of the key elements of Poland’s military potential. The letter constitutes crucial evidence of the distrust that marked Polish-Prussian relations marked by distrust after 1815. The text studies Berlin’s perception of the Polish lands from a political and military perspective. It also confirms that foreign countries perceived the negative aspects of the policy pursued by Grand Duke Constantine.
