Summary/Abstract: The article positions psychoanalysis on the map of modern critical discourses, practices of political engagement, and ideological reflection; beginning with an evaluation of Freud’s most basic notions. The central problem around which Freud constructed his discourse was the category of desire treated as a psychoanalytical hyperobject.
