Marx and the Critique of Ideology: Remark’s on the Concept’s History

Summary/Abstract: The article traces the development of the “ideology” concept in the corpus of Marx’swritings, showing its connection with the other issues that he raised. Ratajczak discussesboth the changes that occurred in Marx’s approach to the problem and the concept of“ideology” in his most important theoretical works, indicating the structural problemsassociated with the concept. Arguing that the critique of ideology was not an importantaspect of Marx’s theoretical project, Ratajczak suggests that to properly understandits meaning in Marx’s – Marxist – works and the social sciences, we should emphasize“critique” – not “ideology.”
