Summary/Abstract: The article identifies the relationship between the phenomena of the uncanny andhumor. For this purpose, Trank first refers to Sigmund Freud and Ernst Jentsch’s findingsand then analyses literary texts. He then considers the opposites of randomness andcause-and-effect relationships, thanks to which Trank highlights the friction betweenhumor and rationality.
