Polish Avant-garde and Post-avant-garde Poetry Between Autonomy and Commitment]. The reviewed monograph is a discussion of examples of poetry of the historical avant-garde, neo-avant-garde and post-avant-garde and demonstrates the intertwining tendencies that liberate literature and engage it socially. According to the author of the review, Świeściak remains sensitive to both historical and ahistorical definitions of the avant-garde. In the researcher’s proposed interpretations, the interplay of autonomy and engagement was shown in different perspectives, depending on the unique character of the poetics in question.
