Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the aspects of enabling cultural self-awareness to provide reasonable prerequisites for developing a culture of dialogue in the maritime sector. Cultural self-awareness at the scientific level is possible through ontological, anthropological, and axiological studies of human existence. To foster a culture of dialogue with another individual, who is different, it is first worth getting to know oneself and giving meaning to one’s conscious communication with another individual, as if with “oneself in another individual”. A culture of dialogue in the maritime industry can be created by considering the individual as a subject. The traditional victim syndrome does not allow a person with an atheistic worldview to recognize others as being different from a point of view of religious culture, which is especially dear to them. However, knowledge of the science of the nation’s history would provide a basis for a certain kind of tolerance. In recognition of their national self-identity as a cultural identity comprising of different nationalities and religions, future and current professionals are subject to natural mental conditions that are necessary to foster a culture of dialogue in the maritime sector.
