Summary/Abstract: The article examines the possible Finnic origin of 24 word roots found in the Livonian-like Vainiži dialect of Latvian, spoken in Limbaži region, north-western Latvia, which have either not been hitherto discussed in etymological literature or whose available interpretation leaves to be desired.
