Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study is to explain the significance of history for contemporary societies, and especially the influence of selected elements of historical policy on current Polish-German and Polish-Russian relations. The author presents the elements of Russian and German historical policy towards Poland, showing its hostile character and its subordination to long-term political goals. In particular, the issue of Poland's alleged responsibility for the outbreak of World War II, as well as the spreading of the term 'Polish death camps' were discussed.
