Summary/Abstract: Humankind is facing lots of problems related to environmental and climate issues; in cumulative terms, they stand for a threat to the quality of life and economic development. Our knowledge of the environment has increased and the right to a healthy environment along with the need to protect it have increased in significance. It is utterly clear that mankind and the environment are parts of the same system. Individual and collective actions - either private or public – do contribute to popularizing the right of every person to a healthy environment and to the awareness of environmental protection. Recently declared, in the year 2022, as a universal right for all people of the Blue Planet, the right to a healthy, clean, and sustainable environment is a natural, fundamental right, the recognition of which adds it to the list of other fundamental human rights. Based on these premises, the present article has as scientific objectives the presentation of certain concepts, a brief history of the documents in which this right is recognized, and some aspects regarding the violation of this right. The proposed topic is noteworthy, therefore it would be useful to further enlarge upon it, and other similar scientific approaches would also be thought-provoking.
