Summary/Abstract: The study presents an analysis of the actions taken by the state due to the armed conflict in Ukraine, as well as the impact on the social security of Poland. The issues related to social security were characterized, including the threats related to security disruption. It describes the differences between a refugee and a migrant, referring to the official definitions of an international organization and convention, as well as the subject literature. Further on the description it presented legal conditions for foreigners in Polish law before 24th february 2022, as well as legal solutions that the legislator created for refugees affected by the armed conflict in Ukraine, their adaptation in the country and recievement by Poles. The resarch method used was the analysis of data and literature on the subject. As a result of the data analysis, it was found that the state had taken all the necessary legislative steps to give refugees from Ukraine an ad hoc basis for their stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland and to ensure the facilities and resources necessary for adaptation to Polish society. Polish citizens are largely unanimous about helping refugees from Ukraine despite the fact there was a slight aversion among certain groups. The refugees are increasingly taking up employment in Poland. All the refugees’ concerns about living outside of the territory of their country seemed to coincide with the solutions provided in the Act on Assistance to Ukrainian Citizens in connection with an armed conflict in the territory of that state. The results of the analysis show the importance of examining the mentality of the host country’s socjety and the fears of refugees, so it could constitute a solid basis for guiding the legislator and the socjety what legal measures should be taken and wheter they take the needs of refugees into account, which will result in maintaining the social security of the country.
