Summary/Abstract: The article examines one of the trends in book publishing in the first decade after the transition from totalitarian to democratic form of government in Bulgaria, namely the trend of publishing so-called popular science editions on UFOs, close encounters, the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations and other supernatural phenomena. The post-socialist book publishing in the 90s of the XX century is developing avalanche and chaotically against the background of the newly emerging market economy of Bulgaria. The shortage of sought-after and preferred titles that existed during the totalitarian regime has been replaced by an abundance of books on the supernatural in all its forms and dimensions. The article lays the foundation for future large-scale research on the subject.
